Latha Luxuries is my mom’s small business endeavour where she sells exclusive traditional South Indian clothing and handmade one-of-a-kind jewelry. I wanted to help my mom with this by making clean, beautiful branding. Thus I created a series of logos, a mood board, and a brand plan to help decide the design direction of this business.
Logo Exploration

I first created 6 logo designs. For these logos, I wanted to portray a feeling of elegance and luxe. Playing off of what Latha means – flower – and Indian-inspired patterns, I selected henna-style floral motifs as the key graphic points. To add a sense of luxury and regalness, I used timeless serif fonts, as well as a minimal color scheme of black, white, and gold.
Moodboard

After designing the logos for Latha Luxuries, I moved on to create a moodboard. I hoped to keep branding sophisticated, timeless and universally appealing, as the customer age range for Indian fashion is quite wide. Therefore I used a neutral color palette with gold accents and two serif fonts.
Brand Plan
Finally, I put together a Latha Luxuries brand plan with the help of my prior research. Through competitive analysis, I was able to gage what the general audience would be like, how branding should be utilized, etc. In addition, I was able to derive a brand message using that information. I kept the layout of the brand plan itself cohesive to the main design that I defined in my moodboard.
